This was our last morning and the sun FINALLY came out of the fog! We had to paint for at least one hour before leaving the coast. We drove down here from the house we were staying in near Ft. Bragg and found the ocean colors to be intense and multitudinous shades of blue. This is where I got an 8" x 10" done in only 50 minutes. It was totally exhilirating.  See photo #01 for the ecstatic look on my face. :o)
This is Noyo Harbour just 4 miles north of Mendocino, and this is our famous posing seagull. Am so glad that I took this photo before starting my painting so it will be easy to fix the water on the plein air piece that got messed up by the boat traffic.
This is a picture looking towards the lighthouse south Mendocino. Below these wonderfully wind-swept trees are the houses where the lighthouse keepers and family used to live since the 1800's. We visited the little museum and admired the hardships they had to endure to keep this treacherous rocky coast safe for passing ships.
